Lenovo ThinkBook Plus Gen 5 Hybrid 2024 Design & Display

ThinkBook Plus Gen 5 Hybrid Best Laptop The ability to move the display/tablet from the keyboard base is familiar to machines like the Microsoft Surface Pro 9 (among others). The kicker is that a tablet (hybrid tab) and base (mixed station) will be two separate computing devices.

ThinkBook Plus Gen 5 Hybrid Tab measures 12.3 x 8.8 x 0.2 inches and weighs 1.7 pounds. It features the dual-tone design of the Lenovo Tab M10 Plus Gen 3 and the company’s other tablets. Its other ThinkBook Plus Gen 5 Hybrid Station measures 12.3 x 9.2 x 0.3 inches and weighs 2.1 pounds. I also liked the model’s much smoother and more responsive touchpad, which is as spacious as the keyboard.

2024 Lenovo ThinkBook Plus 5 Hybrid: Features & Battery Capacity

As the “hybrid” moniker suggests, the ThinkBook Plus Gen 5 Hybrid comes as both an Android tablet and a Windows laptop. One of its features is that it can be used separately as a laptop or as two devices—a function key labeled with a star on the model switches between Windows and Android.

The tablet’s touchscreen is a great alternative to Android apps with a keyboard and touchpad. The laptop has an Intel Core Ultra 7 “Meteor Lake” CPU with a Neural Processing Unit (NPU) and an NPU-free processor to handle AI-driven tasks more efficiently.

The ThinkBook Plus Gen 5 Hybrid Station features a 75Whr battery pack, while the Hybrid Tab adds a 38Whr battery. Lenovo mentions that the ThinkBook Plus Gen 5 Hybrid can last up to 12 hours, but we’ll need to run a battery test on this machine to see if that’s true.

Conclusions:

The Lenovo ThinkBook Plus Gen 5 Hybrid is currently the most unique laptop I’ve seen at CES 2024 because combining an Android tablet and a Windows laptop into one device is possible. Having two devices on it can be very useful – especially for those who use Windows computers and Android tablets. It is a 2-in-1, true to its name, and I am here for it.

I will have to wait until the second quarter of 2024 to see if the Lenovo ThinkBook Plus Gen 5 Hybrid is the final hybrid device. Will its operating systems function as flawlessly as I hope, or will this machine fail to impress? Stay tuned for my definitive review to find out!
