The iPad is expected to grow in size. Many well-known leakers claim that Apple is developing a 14-inch iPad that is bigger than life, which would be the company’s largest tablet ever. The movement of the lineup towards becoming a viable laptop option finally started when the Cupertino business unveiled the 12.9″ iPad Pro. Since then, despite its many constraints, the iPad OS has made an increasing effort to add capabilities that could take advantage of the greater screen real estate, with Stage Manager being the most noteworthy example yet.
Of course, bigger is better, and Apple’s enormous 14-inch iPad may be released as early as next year. Even though there are still many questions about this specific iPad (many more than there are answers), we have put together a summary of all we currently know about Apple’s next enormous tablet. So let’s get started straight away.
Cost of a 14-inch iPad
When it comes to Apple products, the subject of price is never easy to broach. However, the 14-inch iPad will invariably be very expensive, topping even the already pricey 12.9″ iPad Pro (which starts at $1099 for the present configuration) in price, if it has a Promotion (i.e. 120Hz adaptive refresh rate) and a mini-LED display.
iPad 14-inch Availability
Currently, it seems doubtful that the product will be made available before 2023. Ross Young, a well-known display expert and industry insider, predicts that the 14-inch iPad will launch in the first quarter of 2023. This seems like a plausible estimate given that Apple often has an event in the spring that tends to focus on new iPads and MacBooks.
It should be noted that the M2 iPad Pro series is expected to debut in 2022 before the 14-inch iPad. The latter is scheduled to go on sale in October or November of this year and will come in 11″ and 12.9″ sizes.
Furthermore, it is quite possible that Apple won’t produce a completely new iPad by the end of 2022 given the possibility that the company’s September event would be its final one for 2022. (Because it would have to announce itself through a press release, a technique usually used for more modest updates).
A 14-inch iPad screen
The 14-inch iPad display is the main source of debate in this area. According to rumors, the screen will be slightly larger than 14″—exactly 14.1″. One of the most reliable sources in the display industry, Ross Young, initially anticipated that the 14-inch iPad wouldn’t have either a mini-LED screen or Promotion. But Young recently changed his mind about his earlier predictions and now thinks the 14-inch iPad would have Apple’s most advanced display technology. Young has also not ruled out the potential of two 14-inch iPad models: a Pro and a non-Pro, with the Pro model being the only one to include mini-LED technology and Promotion.
Furthermore, according to recent sources, Apple is developing a “hybrid” OLED technology that is less prone to crumpling and is therefore better suited for usage in devices with larger displays. The 14-inch iPad may very well be one of the first devices to use this technology.
iPad Camera, 14″
Little to no attention is being paid to the potential camera module on the 14-inch iPad because the camera is not the iPad’s strongest feature and is therefore rarely a key selling factor. We will report on it appropriately if any further information becomes available.
iPad storage for 14″
The sole mention of storage that has been made so far comes from Majin Bu, an Apple tipster with a dubious track record. The latter has tweeted that the 14-inch iPad will have 16GB of RAM and 512GB of internal storage. For comparison, the base iPad Pro models now have a smaller amount of hardware, namely 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. Even fewer storage options are available for the iPad Air and the entry-level iPad. Furthermore, starting off with greater storage capacity and RAM than even the M2 MacBook Air would barely make logical sense for an iPad. As a result, at this time, we cannot accept Bu’s assertions as true.
a 14-inch iPad model
There are currently rumors that the 2022 iPad Pro will feature a few design modifications (i.e. slimmer bezels and. a bigger Apple logo). It is unknown if these changes will apply to the 14-inch iPad.
iPad 14-inch battery
There is currently zero knowledge available regarding the 14-inch iPad’s battery. We will include any pointers as soon as they become available in that regard.
14-inch iPad software and features
If the 14-inch iPad does come out in 2023, it’ll probably run iPad OS 16, the most recent version. The processor powering the 14-inch iPad will determine whether the device can fully utilize the capabilities of iPad OS 16 given that Apple is restricting Stage Manager to iPads with an M CPU.
Specifications for the 14-inch iPad
An M2 chip will almost certainly be used to power the 14-inch iPad. Only the iPad Mini and entry-level iPad still feature the A15 and A13 CPUs, respectively, while the iPad Pro and iPad Air ranges have switched to the M1 chip. The 14-inch iPad will most likely contain an M2 SoC, according to several dubious sources, although Ross Young has now validated these claims.
