Rumors and leaks in the net world suggest that the camera sensors that Sony has included in the Xperia 1 VI have been updated. As always, we recommend taking this revelation with some skepticism for now until more reliable information comes to hand. Xperia 1 VI is said to be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC. The latest smartphone is also going to come with a 16mm ultrawide camera, a 24mm main camera (48mm with 2x optical zoom), and an 85-170mm telephoto zoom camera.

- Primary: Sony LYT800 [48 MP, 24 mm, 1/1.4-inch optical format]: Primary shooter is a 48MP 1/1.4″ sensor with a pixel size of 1.12μm. It has a 24mm wide-angle lens with support for in-sensor zoom. It is expected to enable 48mm (2x) shots. The full-pixel Dual-PD AF feature enables the camera to focus quickly and accurately in both day and low-light conditions. It is also said to have improved 1080p video recording support with EIS.
- Ultra-wide: Sony LYT600 [50 MP, 16 mm, 1/2-inch optical format]: Capturing ultra-wide-angle shots and auto-focus capabilities are going to be added.
- Telephoto: Sony LYT500 [50 MP, 85-170 mm, 1/2.9-inch optical format]: Periscope telephoto lens is capable of 3.5x optical zoom and up to 7x zoom via sensor crop.
Xperia 1 VI will use a new ‘Exmor T for mobile’ stacked CMOS image sensor as its primary camera. Camera modifications can also be extended to software and these features can be integrated, human pose estimation technology as well as a single camera app that is Cinema Pro, Photography Pro and Videography Pro. Sony claims image quality should rival that of its “full-size” cameras.
