Happy Eid-ul-Adha 2023: Best Wishes, Quotes & Images

Happy Eid-ul-Adha 2023: Best Wishes, Quotes & Images – is expected to take place on July 12, Sunday, 2023. The actual date is dependent on the sighting of the moon in Dhul Hijjah, 1443, the 12th and closing month of the Islamic calendar. Eid-ul-Adha, the second most important holiday observed by Muslims worldwide after Eid-Al-Fitr, honors the sacrifice made by Prophet Ibrahim (A.S.) out of his profound trust in Allah. As a result, Muslims all around the world observe Eid ul Azha every year on the 10th of Dhul Hijjah. The date in the Gregorian calendar, on the other hand, changes annually.

On this day, Muslims sacrifice a cow, sheep, goat, or camel to recognize Ibrahim’s sacrifice (AS). This event remembers Ibrahim’s willingness to sacrifice his son. Shaitan (the devil) approached Ibrahim and wanted to stop him from making the sacrifice, but Ibrahim stood firm. Allah saw his pure devotion to him and sent an angel Gabriel with a sheep to be slain instead of Ibrahim’s son. Allah gave Ibrahim a sheep to offer in place of his son.

Happy Eid-ul-Adha

The Muslim community observes this day by giving special prayers to Allah. They exchange presents and pleasantries. People wear new clothes and give sweets, and the meat is divided among family members, friends, and relatives, and it is evenly distributed to the poor.

Sacrifice Rules:

The following guidelines must be followed if you want to sacrifice an animal on Eid ul Adha:

1- An animal only is a sacrifice for Eid al Adha on the days indicate, thus after the Eid prayer (10th of Dhul Hijjah) and before nightfall on the 13th of Dhul Hijjah. Whoever does not give their sacrifice between the days of the 10th and 13th of Dhul Hijjah must be aware that it accepts. (Sahih Muslim: 1141) and Sahih Bukhari: 5545

2- The sacrificed animal must be one of the four types of livestock—camels, cattle, sheep, and goats—that the Shariah accepts. (Surah Al-Anaam 6:143 and Surah Hajj 22:34)

3- A camel or a cow can be divided among seven individuals, however, a sheep or goat is used as a single offering and is adequate for one household. [1318(a) and 1961(a) of the Sahih Muslim]

4- The animal being offered for sacrifice must be an adult and have attained the age allowed by Shariah.

  • Male or female goats must be at least a year old.
  • sheep that are at least six months old, both male and female.
  • Buffalo, cows, and oxen that are at least two years old.
  • Male or female camels who are at least five years old.

Eid Ul Adha

5- The animal must be in good health and free from any evident flaws. (Saheeh Al-Jami: 886)

Happy Eid-ul-Adha 2023:

6- The individual making the offering should only be sacrificing in Allah’s name. The individual must have complete ownership of the animal that will be sacrificed (it is not stolen or taken by force or in a joint procession or held in pledge).

7-Before performing the sacrifice on the day of Eid, the individual who desires to make a sacrifice must wait until after dusk on the final day of Dhul Qadah before removing any hair, nails, or skin. (3150, Ibn Majah)

8- In accordance with the Sunnah, the individual must slaughter the animal himself. However, if one is unable to do so, he or she may designate another person to act in his or her place; however, the killing or sacrifice must be seen by the other person. (5554 in Sahih Bukhari)

9- When killing the animal, the individual must say the Takbeer (Bismillah, Allahu Akbar) and proclaim the name of Allah. (Sahih Bukhari: 5558)

10- According to several academics, the flesh from the sacrificed animal should be divided into three portions. One-third should go to the individual (and his family) making the sacrifice, one-third should be given as a present to relatives and neighbors, and one-third should be donated to help the needy.

11- All of the animal’s parts may be used for personal benefit, but none may be sold or offered in exchange for money (not even to the butcher as payment for his services); doing so renders the sacrifice ineffective. (Sahih Al-Jami: 6118)

But please always remember your less fortunate Muslim brothers and sisters who lack the capacity to celebrate this great feast by sacrificing any cattle. Share happiness with them too as well as your near and dear ones. May Allah bless us all!
