Android 15 continues our work to build a platform that helps you create better media experiences, reduce battery impact, increase smoother app performance, and improve productivity while providing new user privacy and security capabilities. Android 15 2024 is internally codenamed “Vanilla Ice Cream”.
Like all previous Android versions, Android 15 will be available through the Android Beta Program in April. The update will be made available to the public soon, and you will get a notification to download Android 15 if your phone supports it. In this article, we’ll cover what to expect from Google’s 2024 mobile operating system, which phones will get the update and some of the new features currently in development.

New Features Android 15 2024
Notification cooldown
A new function can be found in the notification section. This function, called “Notification Cooldown, ” reduces the volume of successive notifications from the same app. Android 15 is designed to prevent users from being overwhelmed by too many notifications.
Partial Screen Sharing
Screen sharing is a great feature that will be present in the new Android 15, but there are contexts where you want to share only part of a screen, perhaps in a multi-window situation where only one particular app can be present. Google said the feature, first introduced in beta for the second quarter platform revision (QPR2) of Android 14, will be carried over to Android 15.
New in-app camera controls
Android 15 is adding extensions for more control over the camera hardware on supported devices. New features added through these extensions include low-light enhancement that gives developers control over increasing the brightness of the camera preview. Also, advanced flash power adjustment enables precise flash intensity control while capturing photos.
Health Connect API
Health Connect API Android Custom Hub for fitness and nutrition app data will enable Android 15 as the average step cadence. New metrics can be set to track trans fat and more.
Virtual MIDI 2.0 Apps
To further customize and improve the camera technology, such as the Pixel camera graphics processing unit (G and AI handling, will be available to developers. Other features include changing flash intensity and connecting MIDI 2.0 devices via USB.
Privacy Sandbox on Android
One of the highlights of the Android 15 update is that it includes the latest version of Android’s privacy sandbox. Android’s privacy sandbox is a multi-year initiative by Google to introduce more personalized advertising solutions. It also limits the sharing of user data with third parties. Also, Cross-App works without identifiers, aiming to create an effective, privacy-enhancing advertising solution where user information is protected.

What are the General Alerts about Android 15?
People must know the 2024 Android 15 version before using or installing it. Take note of the following general release advisories:
- This update may have several efficiency, battery, or stability problems.
- This release may not be suitable for daily usage for individuals with availability needs.
- With this release, specific applications might not perform as intended. This restriction applies to both Google apps and third-party apps.
- Although the Android 15 Developer Preview releases have undergone initial testing and offer developers a reliable set of pre-release APIs, they are not authorized by the Compatibility Test Suite (CTS).
- On Android 15 Technical Preview builds, apps that rely on CTS-approved versions or use SafetyNet APIs may not function as intended.
Android 15 2024 Release Date
Google has released the new Android 15 development schedule in 2024. Android 15 will be released later this year, followed by Android 14 last fall. It’s still early in the development cycle, so we only know a little about what Google has released in the latest developer preview. We’ll see some more interesting Android 15 rumors just in time.
The Android 15 preview program runs updates from February 2024 until the final release to AOSP and OEMs, targeted for the year’s end. Updates will be provided for development and testing environments on Android devices at crucial development milestones.

However, the first phase will begin on February 16, 2024. We can expect the first beta version to be between April and May. Android 15 Release candidate versions are expected in June and July, with the final release possibly in September or October and a new Pixel 9 family.
