New 2024 Mustang GT500: Review, Price, Release Date & Specs

2024 Mustang GT500

New 2024 Mustang GT500: Official Price, Release Date, & Full Specs With updated but recognizable looks, updated chassis components, a completely new interior, and two better powertrains, Ford unveils the seventh iteration of the legendary Mustang sports car. The future is bright for the new Pony thanks to many enhancements, but it’s not so good for its closest rivals, the Chevy Camaro and Dodge Challenger. The 5.0-liter V-8 will still power the new model but will now produce 480 horsepower.

Another marginally better engine is the 2.3-litre EcoBoost with 315 horsepower. A six-speed manual or 10-speed automatic transmission will be offered depending on the engine selected. Both a hardtop coupe and a soft top convertible body style will still be available for the Mustang. A 13.2-inch display is an option in the Mustang’s redesigned cockpit.

A display is a component of a huge, curved screen that covers the centre stack region. The system also uses touchscreen “buttons” in place of conventional radio and HVAC control knobs. The sales of the new pony car should start sometime in the summer of 2024.

2024 Mustang GT500 Price

2024 Mustang GT500 Performance – Engine, Transmission, and Other

The revised 2.3-litre, four-cylinder EcoBoost engine that powers the 2017 Mustang as standard produces 315 horsepower and 350 pound-feet of torque. That is 500 horsepower more than the previous Mustang but less than the 330 horsepower of the previous-generation EcoBoost Performance. The Mustang GT, which continues to have a 5.0-liter V-8 engine, has a six-speed manual transmission as standard, whereas every EcoBoost Mustang receives a 10-speed automatic.

The new Coyote V-8 is rated for 480 horsepower and 415 pound-feet of torque, higher than the previous model’s 450 and 420 pound-feet of torque. According to Ford, a performance exhaust is an option that boosts power to 486 horsepower and 481 pound-feet. The 500-hp 5.0-litre V-8 featured in the Ford Mustang Dark Horse is an upgrade for the track based on the GT, either a six-speed manual or a 10-speed automatic transmission.

According to Ford, this engine’s heart comprises connecting rods from the 760-hp Mustang Shelby GT500 and an updated intake system. We won’t update this space until our test crew has secured their equipment to the new Pony, but we haven’t yet done so.

Fuel Efficiency and Average MPG

For context, we should note that the previous Mustang’s turbocharged four-cylinder and 10-speed automatic got an EPA-estimated 21 mpg city and 32 mpg highway. The EPA hasn’t provided official 2024 Mustang EcoBoost or GT fuel efficiency estimates. The last generation’s V-8 sacrificed efficiency for more horsepower, getting only an estimated 15 mpg in the city and 24 mpg on the interstate. We’ll update this section when information about the redesigned 2024 Mustang becomes available.

2024 Mustang GT500 Interior

Every feature visible from the driver’s seat of the 2024 Mustang has been carved out using what Ford refers to as a “fighter-jet-inspired” design. The standard 12.4-inch instrument cluster in the Mustang is a significant improvement over the one in the previous model while we wait to see if its performance can breach the sound barrier.

With various colour gauges and even a “calm” screen showing the most important information, the configurable display may be tailored to meet the needs of most red, white, and blue patriots. Ambient illumination and the driver’s display will adjust depending on your chosen drive mode.

While base Mustangs have cloth seats and optional microsuede vinyl inserts, the Premium trim adds embroidered details on everything from the door dashboard trim. Leather inlays are added to the Mustang GT. Ford has also added a Remote Rev feature that lets you enjoy the sounds outside the car while the engine revs up to full power with only a click from the key fob.

Connectivity & Information

The interior technology of the new Mustang is a significant area for improvement. Behind a curved glass panel, a 13.2-inch infotainment screen employing Ford’s Sync 4 software flows from the instrument cluster to the vehicle’s centre. This system has both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard features, and a wireless smartphone charger provides additional convenience for drivers to lessen the mess of charging cords.

Voice commands can take the place of turning knobs or pressing buttons thanks to Amazon Alexa and Ford Streaming, and every Mustang has Ford Power-Up software. However, this enables over-the-air updates for future software and vehicle function upgrades.
