New 2024 Porsche 911 Carrera S: Feature, Price & Full Specs

2023 Porsche 911 Carrera S

The 2024 Porsche 911 Carrera S is the first Porsche that comes to mind when you close your eyes and imagine one. For a good cause, this fastback with a rear engine is legendary. Add more justifications. For many years, it served as a model for performance, handling, and feel, inspiring competitors like the Aston Martin Vantage, Audi R8, and Maserati MC20, to mention a few. With twin-turbo flat-six engines tuned for up to 473 horsepower, the “regular” 911 stays true to its heritage. More powerful Turbo and GT3 variants are available.

2024 Porsche 911 Carrera S Performance

A twin-turbo 3.0-liter flat-six cylinder engine is housed in the Porsche 911 Carrera S back end. The standard Carrera produces 379 horsepower, the S creates 443 horsepower, and the GTS produces 473 horsepower. A delicious seven-speed manual transmission is available, but you’ll have to spend more money for an S or GTS to obtain it. Every model comes equipped with an absurdly quick-shifting eight-speed automatic transmission.

The coupe and cabriolet come standard with rear-wheel drive, but all-wheel drive can be added for high-performance, four-season driving. We evaluated the standard Carrera and various iterations of the more potent Carrera S, demonstrating its ability on the track and excellent traction in adverse weather. Every 911 has incredible acceleration, regardless of the application, mainly when the joyously effective launch control is used.

When equipped with the eight-speed automatic transmission at our test track, the GTS model accelerated to 60 mph in just 2.8 seconds when fitted with the seven-speed manual transmission, the 911 GTS achieved a slightly slower time of 3.2 seconds. Porsche’s optional sports exhaust system adds a richer engine note, enhancing the experience. The 911 Carrera S is as comfy as ever and even more enjoyable to drive.

Porsche 911 Carrera S Fuel efficiency

The most fuel-efficient 911 is the Carrera S with a manual transmission, which gets 18 mpg in the city and 25 on the interstate. The fuel economy estimates for other 911 models stay within those numbers. Carrera and a Carrera S achieved remarkable numbers of 33 and 30 mpg on our 75 mph interstate route. Visit the EPA website for more details regarding the 911’s fuel efficiency.

Porsche 911 Carrera S Interior

The 2024 Porsche 911 Carrera S interior features a combination of buttons, knobs, touchscreen controls, and a sizable central cupholder for the first time, maintaining its elegant rather than convoluted appearance. The gauge cluster also departs from tradition by substituting most digital instruments for analog instrumentation. The center tachometer still employs a tactile needle that tracks the engine’s revs as it approaches its incredible 7400-rpm redline. Even though these screens have some user-experience concerns and can be blocked by the steering wheel.

The front seats in the Porsche 911 Carrera S are incredibly comfortable and supportive, and the steering wheel provides many customization options. We only wish Porsche had given this automotive legend a giant shifter than the stubby flipper that comes on automatic-equipped cars, added more interior cubby storage, and utilized less piano-black trim on the central console. The 911 S still theoretically accommodates up to four passengers, but the cramped back seats are as unwelcoming to adults now as they were when the 2024 Porsche 911 Carrera S first appeared on the road in the middle of the 1960s.

A 10.9-inch touchscreen built into the dashboard’s center is standard on every 2024 Porsche 911 Carrera S. The center screen has rotary push-button controls on the console, voice instructions, and buttons on the steering wheel: a Wi-Fi hotspot, wireless Apple CarPlay, and wired Android Auto. Porsche does offer two top-of-the-line surround sound systems, one with 12 speakers and the other with 13.
